The General of the Society of Jesus, Fr Arturo Sosa, SJ has celebrated the resurrection of the Lord in the courtyard of the provincial house St Peter Fabre of the West African Province in Douala, Cameroon. This mass gathered Jesuits, friends of the Ignatian family and Jesuit collaborators in Cameroon.
The mass began at 10:30 am and was concelebrated by Fr Fratern Massawe, SJ, Assistant of the General, Fr Hyacinthe Loua, SJ, provincial of the Western Africa Province and the Jesuit priests working in Douala. During his homily, Fr Arturo Sosa, SJ wish to all the CLC members, friends of the Society of Jesus in the AOC Province, benefactors of our communities and of individual Jesuits, collaborators peace and hope. For Father General, the celebration of the resurrection of Christ in the new chapel of the provincial house of AOC still under construction is an occasion of joy. He congratulates our collaborators in these terms: “I thank you for your friendship with us and for your dedication to the Lord”. He encouraged the ignatian family to keep on with the good work and to be witness of the joy of the Risen Christ in their various apostolates: “As ignatian family, we have experienced and we are experiencing in a very special way at this Easter, the deep joy of communion with the Lord those saddening experiences of our daily life and of our mission in the Lord’s vineyard. I pray that we all enjoy the consolation and new life with the Lord who wishes to say: Courage, keep on with the journey!”
The mass continued with the blessing of the chapel of the provincial house whose name is La Storta. Fr Arturo Sosa, SJ, General of the Jesuits sketched some steps of dance during the celebration together with the collaborators in order to express the joy of the Risen Christ. The mass was presided by Fr General in the courtyard of the provincial house of AOC on the solemnity of Easter 2019.
